What's a Ghoul to do? by Victoria Laurie

Let's read this for April as we're fans of the author. Pay particular attention to the writing - I had a coworker comment that she thought it was deplorable in the Abbey Cooper bk 1. I hadn't noticed a thing and I usually do....

I bought this book, and have started it. I thought the writing in this series wasn't as clean as the Abby Cooper series.
So far not bad. But I think it's missing something...

I think I figured out what bothered me so much about this book. The secondary characters. M.J.'s partner and her client. Her partner in particular. I hated how he felt it fine to change the rules on how they did business for one client, yet refused to change his own routine when they were ghost-hunting. And the way he conducted his personal life. I didn't find it funny(which is what I think was meant) Just cruel and selfish.
And the doctor. How he refused to believe in M.J. yet hired her and was not adverse to trying to sleep with her. Just bugged me.
Too much dependence on characters in this book. Not enough plot.
